I have free shipping when you spend over £25 for all products.

There is a certain shipping class I call “heavy Products” that need to be excluded from free shipping. How can I do this?

I think this link may be an option:

I suspect I will just have to add the excluded products to a category of their own – am I on the right track?

Yes, using this module you can exclude categories per shipping methods. Using this module you can exclude particular products or categories.
