It’s always a good idea to try out different strategies to see what would resonate best for your business keeping your target audience and the types of products you sell in mind.
In this article, we’ll share some tips you can follow to increase sales in WooCommerce. You can implement these marketing tactics to attract visitors to your online store and convert them into paying customers. Read more about WooCommerce Product Feed Guide
#1: Offer a discount on all your products
Who doesn’t love a good discount?
You might consider offering a discount on all your products. It’s a great way to attract new customers to your online store and encourage them to check out your products.
Taking a cue from successful online stores, you could offer a discount on all your products around the holiday season. For example, if you sell apparel, you could offer a 10% discount on all items on Black Friday or Thanksgiving.
Aside from attracting new customers, offering a discount on all your products is also a great way to increase your average order value and increase sales in your WooCommerce store.
The easiest way to do this in WooCommerce is by using Booster’s WooCommerce Shop Global Discount module. It lets you offer fixed or percentage-based discounts and create multiple discount groups for different categories of products. #2: Let customers suggest their price
If you’re an avid online shopper, you might have come across stores that let customers suggest their price. In other words, if customers are interested in purchasing a product, they can make you an offer. If you accept it, they’ll pay the suggested amount for the product.
Letting customers suggest their price for a product can help you build trust with your customers, strengthen relationships, and improve your sales performance.
If this is something you’re interested in trying out for yourself, I recommend checking out our blog post on These top brands let customers pay what they want to see how it’s done right!
And, to implement it on your own store, you can use Booster’s handy WooCommerce Offer Your Price module.
#3: Sell products at different prices to different customers
If you’re building a list of email subscribers for your WooCommerce store, why not incentivize them with exclusive discounts?
By selling products at different prices to different customers, you can build customer loyalty for your store and, potentially, increase your average order value. For example, you can offer subscribers $10 off their purchase every time they shop at your store.
This is also useful for store owners that sell to different types of customers such as wholesale buyers and retail customers. By offering wholesale buyers a discount, you encourage them to buy from you every time.
Booster‘s WooCommerce Price based on User Role module lets you set different product prices for different user roles. You can check out our tutorial on How to Set Multiple Prices per Product in WooCommerce for step-by-step instructions.
#4: Let customers name their price
Depending on the types of products you sell, you might consider letting customers name their price. Here’s how it works: you set a minimum and maximum price that you’d like to charge for a product. Then, you simply let customers name their price. If it’s within the range, the customer will be able to place their order successfully.
So, let’s say you sell shoes and it costs you around $30 to manufacture a shoe. You can set the minimum price to $35 and the maximum to $75. This way, any amount of money a customer decides to pay for a pair of shoes is within a reasonable price bracket.
The benefit of letting customers name their price is that it encourages people to buy from you due to transparent pricing.
It also gives customers who want to support your business an easy way to pay a higher sum. The easiest way to implement this marketing strategy on your online store is by using the WooCommerce Product Open Pricing (Name Your Price) module.
#5: Sell products at wholesale prices
Depending on the types of products you sell, you might consider selling them at wholesale prices to increase sales. For example, if you sell athletic wear, you could sell your products at wholesale prices to sports teams that are likely to buy more than one item at a time.
So, instead of charging, $25 per t-shirt, you could sell each one for $22 if the customer places an order for a minimum of 12 t-shirts. This is a great way to increase sales in WooCommerce. This is possible with Booster’s WooCommerce Wholesale Price module.
Plus, by selling products at wholesale prices, you can attract new customers to your online store and increase your customer base.

#6: Automatically add products to the customer’s cart
As an online store owner, if you sell only one product (such as a subscription or membership), you might consider automatically adding the product to the customer’s cart. This also works for stores that sell lots of products and want to feature specific products for a certain time.
For example, let’s say you sell mousepads and have a new design with limited stock. You can use the WooCommerce Product Add to Cart module to automatically add it to the customer’s cart when they visit the single product page.
The key benefit of adding products to the customer’s cart automatically is that it reduces friction in the buyer journey. Customers simply have to proceed to the checkout page to place their order.
#7: Recommend complementary products
Whenever a customer adds a product to their shopping cart, you have an opportunity to show them other, complementary products they might also be interested in. This is called cross-selling and you’ve probably come across it when you last bought groceries. When you add bread to your shopping cart, you might see a recommendation for eggs, butter, or different spreads.
Similarly, you can use Booster’s WooCommerce Cross-sells module to set up cross-sell offers for your products. Back to our mousepad example, if customers purchase a mousepad from you, you could recommend a wrist rest to go with it.
We explain how to set up cross-sells in WooCommerce in our How to Upsell and Cross-Sell in WooCommerce tutorial.
#8: Create add-ons for products
If you sell software or electronics, you might consider offering customers add-ons for their products.
For example, you could sell customers 12-months of VIP support when they purchase some sort of software, theme, or plugin from you. Or, you could offer customers a 3 year extended warranty with their purchase of a graphics card at an extra cost.
Booster’s WooCommerce Product Addons module lets you create paid, free, and discounted add-ons for your products. Check out our How to Create Free and Paid Add-Ons for WooCommerce Products article for more information.
#9: Sell customized products
One way to increase sales in WooCommerce is by standing out from the competition. You can do this by letting buyers customize their products.
For example, if you sell greeting cards, you might want to give customers the option to have a message handwritten in them. Or, if you’re a florist, you could let customers choose which flowers to include in their bouquet.
By selling customized products, you can effectively increase sales in WooCommerce while delivering a good user experience.

#10: Sell related products
One of the major problems online store owners run into is increasing product visibility. Think of it this way, if you sell dozens (or even hundreds) of products, customers probably don’t scroll through the entire product catalog to see everything you’re selling.
One way to show customers similar products is to set up a section that displays products related to what the customer is already looking at. So, for example, if you sell dresses and a customer is looking at a pleated dress, you could show them the other pleated dresses you sell in the related products section.
The best part is that WooCommerce has built-in functionality that lets you showcase related products. To take things further, you can use Booster’s WooCommerce Related Products module to change the number of related products, change how they are displayed, and customize how other products are identified as relative.
#11: Upsell products
Upselling is when you encourage customers to purchase a more expensive version of the product they’re interested in buying. So, for example, if you sell event tickets and customers add the General Admission ticket to their cart, you can upsell them on the VIP Pass that comes with a goody bag and backstage access, for a higher cost.
Upselling is a great way to boost your average order value and increase sales in WooCommerce.
Using Booster’s WooCommerce Upsells module, you can change the way your upsell products are displayed in your online store. Check out our How to Upsell and Cross-Sell in WooCommerce tutorial for step-by-step instructions on how to set up upsells in WooCommerce.
#12: Create coupons for site-wide discounts
You can create coupons to offer site-wide discounts to customers. Here’s how it works: you create a coupon code and send it out to customers on your email list, social media followers, or people who read your blog.
They can then use the coupon code at checkout to qualify for a discount on their total cart value – regardless of which products they’re buying.
Out of the box, WooCommerce offers functionality that lets you create and manage coupon codes for your store. But, if you want to create a secure coupon code, you can use the WooCommerce Coupon Code Generator module.
Check out our article on How to create coupons in WooCommerce for step-by-step instructions on how to implement this marketing strategy.
#13: Create URL coupons to apply discounts directly
If you don’t want customers to go through the hassle of remembering and entering a coupon code at checkout, you can create URL coupons instead. The benefit of creating a URL coupon is that it applies discounts directly when the customer clicks on the link to go to your store.
Booster’s WooCommerce URL Coupons module makes it easy to create URL coupons for your online store.
#14: Offer discounts for using specific payment gateways
An easy way to increase sales in WooCommerce is to incentivize customers to use specific payment gateways. For example, you can offer a discount to customers who choose to make payments using their credit card or direct bank transfer.
Using the WooCommerce Payment Gateways Fees and Discounts module, you can offer flat or percentage-based discounts for each payment gateway you offer.
#15: Offer free shipping
Depending on the types of products you sell, you might consider offering free shipping on some products. For example, if you sell beauty products, you might consider charging shipping on individual items and offer free shipping on beauty kits. In other words, you can offer free shipping on products that you have higher margins on.
Booster’s WooCommerce Shipping Options module lets you offer free shipping on a per-product basis. This means that you can choose which products you’d like to offer free shipping on and charge for shipping on all other products.
#16: Set up a minimum order amount
By setting up a minimum order amount, you can effectively increase sales in WooCommerce. This is useful for all types of online stores including stores that sell grocery items, apparel, accessories, food items, hardware goods, and beauty products.
All you have to do is set the minimum order amount you want to charge customers before they can place an order. Booster’s WooCommerce Order Minimum Amount lets you do this on the user role level. This way, you can set a minimum order amount of, say, $20, for customers with the Guest user role and $10 for customers with the Subscriber user role.
